Day 5: Embracing Mindful Eating

Jan 6, 2026

Enjoying Each Bite

Practice mindful eating, paying attention to flavors, textures, and your body's hunger cues, as God is the. provider, and we should practice gratitude for the very thing God created for us.

Mindful Eating Tips

  • Eat slowly, savor each bite, and avoid distractions.

  • Listen to your body’s signals and stop when satisfied, not full.

This builds a healthy relationship with food and fosters self-awareness. Remembering God provided this just for you!

Evidence of the Baptism of the Spirit: Prophecy

The third mark of the baptism of the Holy Spirit is prophecy.

Acts 1:8 reveals that when the Holy Spirit comes upon us in fullness, we will receive power in our witness. In Acts 2, we see a direct connection between the outpouring of the Spirit and prophecy.

But how do we hear the whisperings of the Lord? Let's explore this together.

What Is Prophecy?

Acts 2:16–18 quotes the prophet Joel:

“This is what was spoken by the prophet Joel: ‘In the last days, God says, I will pour out my Spirit on all people. Your sons and daughters will prophesy, your young men will see visions, your old men will dream dreams. Even on my servants, both men and women, I will pour out my Spirit in those days, and they will prophesy.’”

People who walk in the Spirit and surrender fully so that His Spirit is in charge, not their own, and hear God’s voice. Prophecy is the biblical term for this speaking: hearing whispers or impressions from the Lord and then sharing them with others.

Personally, the Lord often shows me pictures, and I share those pictures humbly. These whispers or images do not come from human knowledge; they arise spontaneously during prayer or even a glance at someone.

Peter declared that when the Spirit of God is poured out, people will prophesy.

Biblical Examples of Prophecy in the Early Church

The New Testament is filled with accounts of those who walked in the fullness of the Spirit, receiving prophetic words or visions:

  • Acts 9:10–12 – The Lord spoke to Ananias in a vision, instructing him to go to Saul (Paul) to restore his sight.

  • Acts 10 – Peter received a vision directing him to go and speak to Cornelius, the first Gentile convert.

  • Acts 13 – Paul and Barnabas received a prophetic word calling them to go on their missionary journey.

  • Acts 16 – Paul received a vision calling him to Macedonia.

  • Acts 19:6 – When Paul prayed for a group of believers, the Holy Spirit came upon them, and they spoke in tongues and prophesied.

  • Acts 21 – The prophet Agabus gave Paul a prophetic word that he would be handed over to the Gentiles.

These examples show that receiving prophetic words or visions was a common experience for those walking in the fullness of the Spirit.

Prophecy Is for All Believers

In Acts 2, Peter teaches that the gift of prophecy is for all people—not just a select few. We are not specially hand-selected to hear from the Lord; every believer has the opportunity if we are willing to press in. Prophecy is one of the marks of the Holy Spirit’s baptism.

I believe it is nothing short of a miracle that we can hear the whisperings of the Holy Spirit—and in doing so, be marked as those baptized by the Holy Spirit.

A Challenge and Invitation

This morning, I ask: In what areas are we not seeing these markings?

  • Are we witnessing with boldness?

  • Are we speaking, loving, and carrying the power of God wherever we go?

  • Are we prophesying as the Spirit lays visions and whispers on our hearts?

If not, there is no cause for concern. We need to press into Jesus and ask: What areas of my life are not fully surrendered to the Lord?

Pray this with me:
“Jesus, I want to be fully immersed in Your Spirit so that You possess my every being.”

When we come to a place of humility and surrender, we begin to bask in His presence—through reading His Word, meditating in worship, and practicing the spiritual disciplines. It is there that our minds are transformed, enabling us to hear the whispers and see the visions of the Spirit.

My friends, it is my prayer that within the next month, each one of you will have experienced God through:

  • Witnessing boldly,

  • Speaking in power, and

  • Prophesying in whispers and visions.

These are the marks of the baptism of the Holy Spirit upon a believer if we will surrender all to Jesus.

Meditative Passages

  • Acts 2:16–18

  • Acts 9:10–12

  • Acts 10

  • Acts 13

  • Acts 16

  • Acts 19

  • Acts 21

Focal Points for Meditation on These Passages

  • What was the position of each person’s heart when they received a vision or prophetic word?

  • What was each person’s primary focus in life at the time of these visions and whispers?

  • What is my primary focus in life currently?

(Note: Focus on these thoughts today. Tomorrow we will discuss the active pursuit of the Holy Spirit.)
