Day 3: Cultivating Gratitude
Jul 3, 2024

Gratitude Practice
Fasting is not just about abstaining—it’s about inner renewal. Today, focus on gratitude and appreciation for this journey you practice "BEing" in His presence.
How to Practice
Write a list of things you’re grateful for in your journal.
Take a quiet moment to thank yourself for committing to change.
Express gratitude to someone who has supported you.
Gratitude shifts your mindset, paving the way for deeper transformation.
Day 3 Devotional
Power: Evidence of the Baptism of the Spirit
Part 2 of 3: How Will You Know When You Are Baptized in the Spirit?
There are three marks of the Holy Spirit in one’s life: Bold Witness, Power, and Prophecy.
Acts 2:47 says the Lord was adding daily to their number those who were being saved. Witness was not the only way the supernatural power of God was displayed. If we take The Acts of the Apostles seriously, we will be led much deeper in our journey.
Join us as we experience God.
EmPOWERment of the Spirit
“I was all the time tugging and carrying water, but now I have a river that carries me.”
— D. L. Moody
Do you feel like you are tugging and carrying water in ministry and life? Or do you find the powerful river of the Spirit carrying you?
Far too often, we are doing ministry in our gifting and human wisdom without the empowerment and fresh filling of the Spirit, and sadly, it shows. Peter said the promise of the Spirit was for all who believe (Acts 2:38–39). This filling was not just for the apostles. They were filled and refilled for the ministry of the day.
We must remove the notion that when we got saved, that was the only time we needed the fresh filling of the Spirit. We are the branch, and He is the vine. We can do nothing apart from Him. So why do we try?
Drawing From the Source
Where are we drawing from? What does it look like to draw living water from Jesus? Is there a conscious awareness of drawing from the Spirit?
I would say that it looks like Moses up on the mountain. Moses did not do much other than obey God by removing his sandals, because he was told to, and then BE with Him.
In the military, we have a leadership saying: BE. KNOW. DO.
We all KNOW a lot about Jesus. Often in our circles, we DO a lot for Jesus and for others. But where is the BE-ing? How frequently do you sit in His presence? How often do you wonder at His glory and majesty? How frequently do you walk and BE with Him?
Empowered for the Assignment
Moses knew how to BE with Him. Moses’ assignment was to lead a group of people out of a place where the people did not want to leave, into a place where the people did not want to go, with a group of people who did not want to take the trip.
This, my friend, is the Christian road of leadership. You will need to be empowered from on high. Moses immediately questioned the Lord, asking, “Who am I?” Wrong question, Moses. God responds, “No. I AM.”
Who Are We Looking To?
Friends, are we looking to Christ and asking, "Who am I?" Or are we saying to Jesus, "You are!" When we realize that His Spirit does it all, then all we need is His Spirit.
A Holy Surrender
May I close using a term which, in our culture, carries an evil connotation? Possession. We must submit and say, “Jesus, I want Your Holy Spirit to possess me. I want to be fully possessed by Your Spirit. I want nothing of me and all of You.”
Moses came down off that mountain (Exodus 34:29), and he did not even know his face was glowing with radiance. My friends, he was with God. When we learn to BE with God, we cannot help but get drenched in His presence. A repentant heart before God that knows how to BE in His presence will get baptized with His Spirit every time.
Meditation Questions:
1. Do I want to learn how to BE in His presence!
2. Today, don't try to KNOW or DO—instead, just BE in His presence.
3. Spend two hours by yourself listening and just BE. Attend to His presence and follow the guidance you hear. Let Scripture guide your thoughts.
Meditative Passages: Exodus 3
Observe how Moses interacted with God. What feelings, emotions, thoughts, sights, and senses did he experience? What did he smell, taste, and feel on that mountain?
Exodus 34:29 — "Radiance"
REMINDER: God does not call us to strive, but He does call us to cultivate. We must aggressively pursue and actively cultivate our time with Jesus. Without it, you will wither and die, just like the branch apart from the vine!
I chose life—a life of power! Just BE today!
